
Science.. . Children make flubber, watch tadpoles become frogs, observe caterpillars as they spin their chrysalis and turn into beautiful butterflies.
Children hold ladybugs from the ladybug house and even watch how ants work.
Math.. We use the calendar to practice counting and pattern recognition. To Learn number understanding we count gummie bears, animal crackers and use other various counters. Shapes are worked on by using geo boards and playing shape bingo. We introduce graphing by keeping track of the weather, favorite foods, and different rates of plant growth.
Music.... includes: Christian songs, Introduction to simple sign language, and rhythm sticks.
Independent Play... The children can choose educational games on the computer, build with duplos or soft blocks. Develop fine motor skills with puzzles and a rice table. They can use their imagination at the train station, be a farmer with the barn and animals. Other options are cars, construction site, magnets, and housekeeping. We rotate the centers to keep the children interested.
Phonics... and letter awareness are enforced with computer avtivites, alphabet stamps, alphabet games and flannel graph ABC's. . They also play with alphabet puzzles, and paint with alphabet sponges.
